Before Columbia, he graduated from the University of Oxford (2024) and Santa Clara University (2021) and developed proficiency in modern Persian, researched Assyrian artists and writers from modern Iran such as Hannibal Alkhas, and took courses on literary theories and Middle Eastern history. Beyond his studies, Ryan is passionate about teaching and tutoring languages, especially English. He has lived in Yerevan for about a year as an English Teaching Assistant under the Fulbright U.S. Student Program (2021-22) with previous experiences helping students with writing projects, SAT examinations, and fellowship essays.

Ryan is from San Jose, California. He grew up in an Assyrian-Iranian household and is a heritage speaker in Assyrian while having professional proficiency in Persian and limited proficiency in Eastern Armenian. He loves having the chance to meet students from around the world, improve his foreign language skills especially Persian and Eastern Armenian, and offer support on various academic projects.
